You can Help Dress a Girl Around the World! A sew-a-long

March 1, 2011

Hi Friends!  My blog friend Vanessa from LittleBigGirlStudio is hosting a really wonderful sew-a-long with a cause.  Have any of you ever made a pillowcase dress?  It is so easy and adorable.

To participate, you make a pillowcase dress (or 3! I think I will just make several at once!) and submit a picture to a flickr pool that Vanessa will create.   There will some great prizes (ahem, my patterns included!) drawn randomly for everyone who makes a dress.  Then, you send your dress off to Dress A Girl Around the World and help little girls all over the world to have something bright, beautiful, and special to wear that is just for them.

This makes me so happy!  Not only will we get to make a fun little dress but then to know that dress will make a girl somewhere feel beautiful.  I am going to get my daughters involved by getting them to help pick out fabrics and maybe doing some hand sewing.

All week long from March 7th to the 12th Vanessa will have posts by guest bloggers to inspire your dresses like applique, pockets, ruffles, etc.  I will be doing my favorite pocket tutorial!  My friend Amy sent me a sneak peek of the cutest pocket EVER that she will be sharing that week too.

We really want this to be a big success and be able to send off lots of dresses.  I know you gals are talented and awesome sewers!  Head over to Vanessa's blog and put up your own blog post about this really fun (and worthy of our time!) sew-a-long.  Every dress counts to make a little girl happy!  Leave a comment here of email me with questions.  Looking forward to next week!  I will be posting about it next week too, including my favorite dresses from the flickr pool and lots of other info.
