Country Version of the London Backpack

May 21, 2015

Where would the country be in England?  Essex?  Wherever Jane Austen was, right?  I had the pleasure of testing the London Backpack for my pal Vanessa for the Spring Willow & Co pattern release.  I love the result!Londonbackpack

Vanessa designs bags so well.  The pattern pieces fit perfectly and her style is classic modern.  The instuctions were very clear too- I even learned how to make a zipper cover and I used my ancient grommet maker with success!

LondonBagbyGingercake2Grommets are WAY easier to install than I thought.  You bet I am looking around for more grommet projects now.  Any ideas?

LondonBackpackbyGingercake3I used some vintage ticking that the neightbor gave me.  His very crafty wife passed away last year and he has been slowly clearing out her things.  I wish she could see her fabric being put to good use!  I also used linen (actual linen and not the look alike drop cloth fabric or Osenberg fabric) The result was very pretty.  But honestly- The look alikes work just as well and are a lot cheaper 🙂

You can go get the London Backpack pattern HERE.  It is more like a stylish backpack purse with nice attention to pockets and details that are more adult.  Very cool!
