First Day of School a Month Late!

October 11, 2009

Here is my girl on her first day of school.  IMG_4422Six weeks later!  You may ask "who cares 6 weeks later??"

BUT she has got some cute sewing items that she is modeling for me and that she actually was totally psyched to wear to school on day 1.   First, she is wearing the hooray for headbands!  This is a free pattern from Heather Bailey that is cute and super easy.  I added some interfacing to the main part though and that has made it stand up a little better.  Next she is using (and still looking cute 6 weeks later!) her back pack I made from this pattern.  I increased the size by using the directions included in the pattern.  I also used a vintage quilt front  from the local fleatique.  I am pretty sure these are feed sack cloths pieces.  I love it!  I'll show another project from this quilt top later.

My girl is wearing a skir that used to be a 2T dress that I just cut off the top and made an elastic waist band for.  It has really cute pockets and a nice lining or I am not sure that I would have bothered.  IMG_4419 Last but not least, she is carrying her Love Your Lunch Box!  I wish I made the shirt too but it is a GAP handmedown from her favorite cousin.  She will not wear any of the shirts that I make!  Little stinker.  All ready for kindergarten!
