This is a stool that was in my Grandma Keleher's kitchen when I was a kid. I was by far her youngest grandchild- most of my cousins are about 15-20 years older than me. I remember her house in Florida pretty well and this chair was always a favorite of mine back then.
The kids love climbing up the stool and watching me cook and also the top folds up and it becomes a step ladder. I have seen enough of these around to know that it was a pretty common chair to have in your kitchen in the 50s and sixties. I stupidly used it as a painting chair back when we were fixing up our old house and let paint splatter all over it! Here is what I did to fix it up…
This is the new Heather Bailey fabric. I used about a 1/3 of a yard making this little slipcover. Last week I used this tutorial to recover my ironing board and it gave me the idea that I could do something similar to the stool. Here is a closer shot~
I am so happy it still looks cute and retro but fresh and clean. More decorating projects to come soon!
