I can't be happier that the snow is melting. It is revealing a major mud fest here though. I have been cleaning up muddy kids and shoes for days. I wouldn't say that I am happy about it but I am not as annoyed as I usually would be when they scream to me crying about falling in the mud AGAIN. Here are some pictures of our day yesterday.
Touching the daffodils that are coming up… Girls love these and check them everyday. "Will they bloom today?" Uh, no. But I admit that waiting on daffodils to bloom makes me impatient too!
The neighbor's dog, Mia, came visiting in the yard. I loved all her energy and running straight at us only to turn at the last minute. Anne loved this too. Elsie was suspicious but warmed up eventually. Cal got a big ole lick in the face and was NOT happy about the dog anymore. Here he is making a quick escape.
We ran out of bread again. Why can I never gage the right amount of bread, milk and eggs to buy? So I decided to try making bread like I used to. Now I didn't start until 2:00 in the afternoon so Travis and I were munching on fresh bread at 10:00 last night. Turned out pretty good! I use a recipe from this book. It's a pretty hard core bread baking book for me but I make adjustments and it turns tasty and a lot easier. The whole bread making process is fun though- the rise, the kneading, the baking. Satisfying for sure.
And here is what I want to be doing. I am working on a new pattern- a spend the night/ weekend bag. But I am totally distracted by wanting to read this book.
Kid says "Mommy! Can I have some juice?" "maybe later." Kid says "Mommy! Need to go potty!" "err, can't you hold it until I get to the end of this paragraph? OK fine. I'm coming" Kid says "Mommy! Can I paint?" "No. No way. Go play with water in the sink." You know it's bad when you suggest water in the sink and they get that look of delight like you have given them the best present ever because they are not going to get in trouble when you walk in later and find all your good towels soaking wet all over the floor from the baby doll splashing in her "tub".
Happy weekend! Maybe next week I will actually post something that I have sewn!
