Well, it feels like the leaves are turning early here and although I love how beautiful the trees look and how crisp the air feels, I will be the first to admit that I will be sad to see the warm weather go! Did you hear me being all positive about summer and not negative about winter?? That is the new me! Positive Pollyanna over here.
This top is the Ribbon Blouse in size 2 from Happy Homemade Sew Chic Kids by Ruriko Yamada. I bought the English version last year and have made a bunch of basics for my girls from it, including shorts, tops and skirts. The book is a good investment but you have to be able to kinda feel your way through the patterns since it is not very detailed with instructions.
I added long sleeves to the pattern since the cooler weather is here but they were too long! So, instead of sewing those little size 2 sleeve opennings again, I rolled them up and secured the sleeve with cross stitches. It turned into a really sweet handmade detail, don’t you think? The fabric is Katarina Rocella’s Indelible by Art Gallery Fabrics. This particular print is called Floret Stains Tealberry. I love the color mix of teal, dark purple, golden yellow, pale pink and grey. Such a beautiful fabric line! The yellow fabric is shirting fabric from Fabric.com.For the photos, I again used my 50mm lens and took advantage of the early morning light. I also gave her a wild flower to hold to distract her a little. Distraction works like a charm! Miss Marion is so fun to sew for right now! She loves everything I make (it might help that she can’t really express too many opinions yet) and she likes a good pose for the camera. Some smiles would be nice, but I’ll take what I can get out of my 22 month old!
